Sensitive (Bicarb Free)
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. If your skin is on the sensitive side, our bicarb-free scents are the place to start: Mellow, Tango and Drift. Mellow is the simplest of the three - it's the only one that's both bicarb-free and essential-oil-free.
Many people with sensitive skin find they can also use our Regular Strength bicarb scents, Urban and Surf, which have less bicarb than our Extra Strength scents. Skin varies a lot in how it gets on with bicarb, so if you'd like to try one, go easy to start.
Whichever you choose, start at the lower end of how much to use, and wash it off at the end of each day so your underarms get some time without it.
If you notice any redness or irritation, stop using it and get in touch - we'll help you find a gentler one.
Absolutely - hairy pits are no problem at all.
The only thing to watch is that it reaches the skin rather than sitting on the hair. With the pastes, rub it in until it disappears, the way you would a moisturiser. With the sticks, swipe it on and then give it a quick rub in with your fingers.
You might want a bit more than usual - a full pea per underarm rather than half - simply because there's more to work it through.
Yes - three of them. Mellow (yellow) and Tango (orange) are Regular Strength, and Drift (dark blue) is Extra Strength. Each comes as a stick and a paste, and you'll find them together in our bicarb-free range.
For what bicarb does and why some people go without it, see what bicarb does in our deodorants.
Here's our everyday range. Every scent comes as both a stick and a paste, and they sort by two choices - how strong you want it, and whether you want bicarb in it. There's more on how the strengths differ.
Extra Strength, with bicarb
- Wild (green) - citrus and eucalyptus
- Tux (black) - sweet, spicy and woody
- Pop (light purple) - lime and grapefruit
Extra Strength, bicarb-free
- Drift (dark blue) - sea salt, melon and cypress
Regular Strength, with bicarb
Regular Strength, bicarb-free
None of our scents are designed to be overwhelming - they all lean towards the subtle side, because they're for you to enjoy, not the people around you. Wild and Tux tend to linger more than the others.
To compare them side by side, here's our scent comparison chart, or try our Deodorant Quiz to find a scent that ticks all your boxes.
You can choose from 2 types of packaging for your Woohoo deodorants, and it's all plastic free and 100% recyclable in your kerbside recycling bin!Ā
Our All Natural Woohoo Deodorant Pastes (both 60g sizes and 10g samples) are packaged in aluminium tins and are infinitely recyclable.
Our Woohoo Deodorant and Anti-Chafe Sticks are packaged in recyclable/biodegradable FSC (Forest Stewardship Council Certified) cardboard tubes š.
Even though our cardboard tubes are recyclable,Ā many people skip the recycling bin and pop their tubes straight into their home compost. šæ
Scent for scent, our sticks and pastes have the same deodorising ingredients. What's different is the texture and how you put them on.
Our deodorant and anti-chafe sticks are hands-off - you swipe the stick straight onto your underarm, or anywhere else that's prone to chafing, without getting any on your fingers. They're firmer and a little waxy, because a stick needs to hold its shape, and they leave a thin layer on the skin that you don't need to rub in.
Our pastes are softer and more buttery. You warm a little on your fingertips and rub it in until it disappears - how to apply the paste has the method, and how much deodorant to use covers both.
Each scent in our everyday range comes as both a stick and a paste, so you can switch between them without changing scent.
For the odour, yes - and there's one thing worth knowing if you sweat a lot.
Woohoo deodorants go after the smell, not the sweat, so you'll keep sweating as much as you do now. Our absorbent powders soak up some of that moisture, which helps you feel drier, but they won't stop it. Here's how a deodorant differs from an antiperspirant.
If you have strong body odour, we generally recommend our Extra Strength natural deodorants. If you'd rather go without bicarb, Drift is Extra Strength and bicarb-free, and here's our whole bicarb-free range.
Some of our most loyal customers are tradies, athletes and people who sweat a lot - you'll find plenty of them in our reviews.
On big days it's fine to top up without showering first - more on when and how often to apply.
They're really two separate choices: how strong you want it, and whether you want bicarb soda in it.
Extra Strength formulas have more of the main deodoriser - bicarb soda, or magnesium in the bicarb-free ones - plus zinc ricinoleate, which traps odour molecules. Our Regular Strength formulas have less bicarb or magnesium, and no zinc ricinoleate. You can browse the Extra Strength and Regular Strength ranges.
Sensitive is what we call our bicarb-free formulas. They're built on magnesium instead of bicarb soda, and they come in both strengths: Mellow and Tango are Regular Strength, and Drift is Extra Strength. Here's the whole bicarb-free range.
Just because you sweat, it doesn't mean you need an Extra Strength deodorant. We're all a bit different, so you may find a Regular Strength formula works just as well for you. To try a few scents before you commit, there's a Deodorant Paste Sample Pack.
Anyone can use any of our scents - they're all unisex.
There are patterns, though. Men and very active people (like tradies and athletes) often go for our Extra Strength scents, Wild (the green one) and Tux (the black one), which tend to linger more than the others. If you're after something softer, Urban (the red one) is our most floral, but it's still subtle and sophisticated rather than in-your-face.
If your skin is on the sensitive side, start with our bicarb-free scents: Mellow (yellow), Tango (orange) or Drift (dark blue). There's more on that in using Woohoo with sensitive skin.
You can see every scent side by side in our deodorant scents, and there's more on what men tend to go for, skincare included.
Lots of families do, and there's nothing in our deodorants formulated specifically for adults. Whether it suits a particular child is a call for you.
If you're choosing for a younger wearer, Mellow and Tango are our gentlest formulas. Both are bicarb-free and regular strength. The difference between them is scent: Tango carries essential oils, Mellow carries none at all. So if you're not sure how a child's skin will go, Mellow is the simplest place to start.
Older teens often want more deodorising power than that, and they tend to go for the Extra Strength scents: Pop, Tux and Wild. These contain bicarb, which is part of what makes them stronger. Skin varies a lot in how it gets on with bicarb, so it's worth going sparingly with these ones to start. If they want the strength without the bicarb, Drift is extra strength and bicarb-free.
Go sparingly, especially for sensitive skin. With a stick, up to three swipes is plenty and there's no need for more. With a paste, start with no more than half a pea per underarm, warmed between the fingertips and rubbed in like a moisturiser. If you notice any redness or irritation, stop and let their skin settle. Get in touch if that happens and we'll help you find a gentler option.
One other thing that helps: encourage a daily wash under the arms so deodorant doesn't build up.
