Rose – benefits of the beauty wonder found in your (neighbour’s) backyard

The house next door to us has been vacant for months and as good neighbours we do a few little jobs now and then to help keep the house looking tidy and lived-in. As many of you would do as well.

Being the neighbourly gent he is, one day Aaron noticed that the roses needed some pruning. So he quickly popped over the fence, trusty secateurs in hand, and got to work. By sheer coincidence it just happened to be Valentine’s Day.

So instead of filling up the green bin with beautiful roses, Aaron decided to try his hand at flower arranging and designed a centrepiece for the romantic dinner he’d planned to cook later on.

Complete husband of the year material we know Ever the romantic (remember, he was doing a neighbourly deed too!).

It just goes to show the shenanigans we are willing to partake in to get our hands on some roses. And for good reason. Apart from being a highly coveted valentines gift, roses are health and wellness powerhouses that help your mind and skin.

We’ve all heard about rosehip oil (which we choose not to use in our products because we have other oils we like lots more!) but that’s not all the not-so-humble rose has to offer.

The Mind Benefits of Rose

Gone are the days of heavy synthetic rose aromas that make you feel like you have been smacked in the face with a rose hammer by your Nanna.

Natural rose essential oil and rose water have soft, warm, delicate feminine scents. Think classic Audrey Hepburn.

Rose is comforting and has the ability to stabilise your emotions. It keeps you cool calm and collected. It has been known to help people suffering post-traumatic stress disorder and post natal depression.

Rose is our secret weapon to keep frazzled nerves in check while travelling with small children.

The Skin benefits of Rose

The soothing prowess of rose is not lost on your skin.

Its array of vitamins and minerals nourish and hydrate your skin, keeping dry skin in check. It has natural anti-inflammatory abilities which make it lovely for helping calm inflamed and irritated skin.

But it doesn’t just help dry skin – rose is also a great choice for oily and acne prone skin as it has antibacterial and astringent properties that keep pores clean and clear without causing tightness or dryness.

Rose’s combined astringent and hydrating talents can reduce redness and brighten skin tone. Your skin is left feeling soft, smooth and hydrated.

Raindrops Hydrating Tonic

The Raindrops comes to your rescue whenever you are feeling tired. Because if you are feeling tired you will look tired.

It will rejuvenate, fight oxidative stress, nourish, hydrate, soothe, reduce redness, gently exfoliate, set makeup & uplift your spirits (as we mentioned before this our secret to coping with travel stress … our boys are not big fans of the car).

Never a trust a prince who comes to whisk you away that doesn’t bring roses!

Luckily the best selling Happily Ever After Vitamin C Eye Serum uses organic Rose Otto Hydrosol for that touch of gentle romance whilst taking care of the delicate skin around your eyes. It hydrates, soothes, tones, nourishes, fades age spots and calms puffiness.

Anyone for a cuppa?

We can’t resist a mention of one of our favourite teas, the Eye Bright Herbal Tea Infusion from Neo. White tea infused with Morrocan Rose buds, Chrysanthemums, Gooseberries, Goji Berries = delicious! P.S. We’re not affiliated with Neo in any way. We just love tea.
